How to find Raccoon Babies

When it is raccoon nesting season, raccoon babies are often very well hidden inside attics. Mothers take great care to protect their children, especially if they need to leave the attic to forage for food and water.

Because of this, it is nearly impossible to lure baby raccoons into a human trap. They almost always need to be extracted by hand.

Trying to find the young kits on your own could be a serious headache, as they are often well hidden by their mothers.

You would need to fish around in your fiberglass insulation and contend with an abundance of raccoon scat and urine in order to find the nest where those babies have bedded down.

At AAAC Wildlife Removal, our experienced pros are very good at quickly identifying exactly where your raccoon nest is located. They are often in challenging places, like above your soffit or behind dividers.

When searching for the nest, it is pretty easy to run into the mother raccoon, who is usually very defensive. She wont like you pawing around looking for her children!

She might attack when you get close to the nest, or snatch a couple of her children and try to move them.

Removing young raccoons

It’s vital that when a mother raccoon and her babies are removed from your attic that they are kept together and transported in unison.

It can be disastrous to remove the children without the mother, and inhumane to leave one or two infant raccoons behind. A lone mother in your attic could cause all kinds of damage.

Kits left behind would also likely die due to malnutrition and become a whole new class of problem for you.

If you suspect that a raccoon in your attic has juvenile kits, it is a very good idea to contact a professional wildlife removal company, like AAAC Wildlife Removal. We have the skills and experience to help you remove your nuisance raccoon babies without causing harm.

We will locate and seal up the entry point that your raccoons used to get inside, as well as clean up the mess that they left in your attic.
